Longview Whippet Sauvignon Blanc
There are lots of Oz sauv blancs on the market and ours are different to those from NZ – mostly they're not as 'cat's-piss' like. I very much like the Longview Whippet Adelaide Hills. It's light and racy, and I drank it too fast... The 2017 vintage was very cool and there are amazing flavours in the fruit even at low sugar levels.
The ‘Whippet’ Sauvignon Blanc displays aromas of guava, mangosteen, green beans, honeysuckle, and lemon. The palate displays refreshing, green bean and nettle characters and finishes with incredible mouth-watering acidity. It's got some zing about it.
The 2017 vintage had plenty of moisture during the growing period and then experienced very cool ripening conditions resulting in exceptional acid retention and flavour development. The parcels were harvested on the 21st and 22nd of March approximately 2 weeks later than usual. The Sauvignon Blanc is only harvested at night during the coolest period and delivered to the winery immediately to preserve fruit flavour.
