This is a great wine at a great price. The wines from Purple Hands are regularly featured in James Halliday’s Top 100 lists.

Tasting Notes:
Purple/Red colour leads to an enticing nose of plum, blueberry, dark chocolate with French oak adding a sweet vanilla note. Deep dense fruit palate with plenty of concentration, long fine tannin reminiscent of 85% dark chocolate gives excellent flavour and textural persistence. This wine has the ability to age well and will reward over the next 10-15 years.

Winemaking:
The Shiraz was picked on the 25 and 26th February 2019.
The fruit was crushed into open fermenters, one open fermenter was seeded with Melody yeast with the other left until natural yeast fermentation commenced. Temperatures were allowed to reach 28C with header boards allowing gentle extraction. After 10 days on skins, the fruit was basket pressed and transferred into 22% new French oak with balance into 1-6-year-old French oak hogsheads to undergo malo-lactic fermentation. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was racked then transferred back to the same oak and matured for another 13 months. The wine was pumped from oak in December and left in tank until bottling.

Cellaring:
Drink now or cellar carefully and enjoy over the next 15 years.

Closure: Screw cap.
Alc: 14.1%
